Quarr Abbey

Quarr Abbey is on the Isle of Wight, near Ryde, it's grounds extend down to the sea and include acres of farmland.

It is a Benedictine house, dedicated to a life of prayer.

Men can stay in the guesthouse, if you do you, are able to eat and pray with the monks, and join in some of their work if you want.

The liturgy is quite beautiful, a lot in Latin, a generous use of chant. Quarr and the Solemnes Congregation have always been very involved in liturgical reform, in the best way. The Abbot was the No 3 in the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, therefore one might expect that worship at Quarr is really what the Church expects.

WARNING: Young men who go to Quarr normally end up wanting to leave everything and join!
